Jung’s individuation is just a fancy way of saying:

“Becoming your true self.”

Think of yourself like an onion. You have many layers—what society expects of you, what your family wants, what you think you should be. Individuation is peeling away these layers to discover who you really are deep inside—your unique personality, desires, and purpose.

Jung believed that inside each person, there’s a “Self”—the truest, most balanced version of you. Individuation is the journey of uniting all the different parts of yourself (like your conscious thoughts, hidden emotions, and even the parts you don’t like) so you become whole and truly yourself instead of just playing roles for others.
