In his philosophy, Camus argued that life doesn’t have any inherent meaning—it’s absurd. The absurd hero is someone who understands this absurdity but refuses to give up or fall into despair.
A perfect example of this is Sisyphus, the character from Greek mythology who is condemned to roll a boulder up a hill forever, only for it to roll back down each time. Camus sees Sisyphus as an absurd hero because even though his task is pointless, he doesn’t give up. Instead, he finds his own meaning in the struggle.
